Cultivate Your Own Morning Routine for Spring Renewal

In a recent class, we talked about how the energy of spring, with its longer, lighter mornings, is the perfect time to begin a regular movement practice. We agreed that starting with small, achievable goals—like doing one or two sun salutations a day—is the best way to build a lasting habit.
Inspired by this, I recorded a few ideas to help you get started. These recordings are just a starting point, you may decide to stick to the same one every day or mix it up. Remember, always listen to your body. Your needs will vary each time you step onto your mat, depending on things like how well you’ve slept, what you ate the night before, or how busy you’ve been. Instead of absent-mindedly repeating the same routine every day to get it 'done', personalize it.
And don't forget—you can always swap postures. On days when you’re feeling tired, try replacing downward dog with cat-cow or child's pose. On days when you’re feeling more energized, you might want to hold postures longer. Tune into the instincts and impulses your body is giving you and follow them. You may be surprised at where they lead.
As time goes on, your practice will become a wonderful way to check in with yourself each morning—connecting with all the layers of your being.
A Note on Perfectionism: It's an energy drain. While it’s important to maintain good posture in practices that you repeat regularly, there’s so much more to gain from embracing a playful approach. I purposely didn’t re-record any of these sessions (with the exception of one where my microphone malfunctioned), because they’re just me, with a slippery mat on uneven ground, showing up with my ideas. If I had aimed for perfection, these would have never made it to you.
